Lawn Care Ordinance

 Dallas Borough Lawn Care Ordinance

Dallas Borough property owners are reminded of the Borough Ordinance requiring the appropriate maintenance of their lawns.  Grass must be cut and weeds must be removed from private property in compliance with the Dallas Borough Code requiring that owners or occupants of properties within Dallas Borough are required to cut grass and weeds growing on their property.

The Dallas Borough Code Enforcement Officer will conduct routine inspections throughout the Borough during the summer season.  Failure to comply with the ordinance may result in enforcement action by Dallas Borough resulting in the possible assessment of fines and penalties for those properties that fail to comply with the regulations.

Please refer any questions pertaining to the enforcement of Borough regulations to the Dallas Borough Administrative Offices at 675-1389.

Street Sweeping 2013

Dallas Borough Announces

Spring Street Sweeping Program

As the spring season quickly approaches the Dallas Borough Road Department will begin the annual Spring Street Sweeping Program.  The program is expected to begin within the next week, weather permitting.

The Road Department requests that Borough residents follow a few simple instructions to assist the Road Department staff in the collection of road cinders and materials deposited throughout the winter driving season.

·       Rake cinders out to the side of the road in even layers and avoid large piles.  Under no circumstances should cinders be swept into the stormwater catch basins.

·       Do NOT fill containers with cinders in excess of 20-25 pounds.  Heavy containers will not be picked-up.

·       Do NOT include rocks, tree limbs, yard or animal waste with the street cinders.

After April 26, 2013, cinders must be placed in containers for pick up.

Questions pertaining to this announcement should be directed to the Dallas Borough Administrative Office at 675-1389.

Easter Egg Hunt 2013

Dallas Borough held the annual Easter Egg Hunt this past Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Kenneth Young Memorial Park on Burndale Ave.  There were approximately 45 children in attendance despite the cold damp day.  The Easter Bunny arrived by fire truck to greet all the children. Children played games, did arts and crafts,  and hunted for candy filled eggs, including a few golden eggs to win a special prize. All children participating took home prizes.

A special Thank You to all the volunteers who made this day a success.  Misercordia University Students, Dallas Road Department Employees and Back Mountain Regional Fire & EMS Inc. for providing the fire truck.

Thank you all for coming. We look forward to having another successful event next year.

Five-Leg Intersection Project Moving Forward
We're pleased to announce that PennDOT has made the five-leg intersection improvement project link available to Dallas Borough.

After PennDOT officials determined that the borough's large intersection is both inefficient and dangerous, they determined a roundabout intersection would assist in easing traffic flow.

A roundabout uses a round, one-way street and minimal traffic signals to keep traffic moving in at an ordered, steady pace.

They have been proven to be highly effective to increase efficiency in nearly all of their applications.

Engineers are currently reviewing several options for the most efficient designs. PennDOT officials expect to award a construction contract by January, 2014.

For more information, view the project's page PennDOT's website Click Here.
